Entertainment is one of many activities, groups and individuals contributing to societal needs. We believe that all forms of entertainment are fine if they do not hurt anyone, degrade someone or go below human dignity.

Movies, music, etc., used to entertain people: There was live entertainment at the club seven nights a week.

The word “entertainment” comes from the Medieval Latin intertenere, which translates as “to hold inside.” Its Indo-European root is ten, meaning to stretch or enlarge something. This explains why the word entertainment is so well-suited to an activity that can change and stretch people’s tastes and sensibilities.
